Congrats! You’ve completed your studies and confined water dives. You are ready for the last step in becoming a certified Open Water Diver – your open water certification dives!
Prerequisites: Completion of Open Water classroom and confined water training.
Included in Price: Instruction, scuba equipment rental fees, air fills, and diver ID card. Your rental package includes a wetsuit, hood, gloves, weight integrated BC, tank, weights, and a regulator with dive computer.
** Students must remember to bring their own personal items including logbook, mask, fins, snorkel, and booties and are responsible for their own transportation.
Medical: Prior to taking this scuba course, you will need to complete a Liability Release and Medical Form. Please review the Medical form and determine if you are eligible to take a scuba course or if you will need a doctor to sign-off on your form prior to starting the course. This information is required to enroll or begin any diver training.
2021 Diving Location Options: For completing your course locally, we use quarries nearby including Rappahannock Quarry in Fredericksburg, VA; Lake Phoenix in Rawlings, VA; or a private quarry in WV. Alternatively visit our Travel Page to join us on one of our monthly Florida trips or to a more exotic locale. You can also take a Referral packet to another dive center at a destination of your choice.
Option 1: Drive & Dive ($350)
“Local” quarry within 1-2 hours drive (Fredericksburg or WV)
10-15 ft. visibility, 7mm wetsuit or drysuit temps
No frills and no facilities. Training only. Entrance Fee Included.
Option 2: Lake Phoenix Weekend ($350)
Located just south of Richmond, 3-4 hour drive
30-40 ft. visibility, large training platforms, easy shore access to/from water
Bath houses with toilets and hot showers, concession stands, and shop
DOES NOT INCLUDE Entrance fees or camping fees – to be paid directly to the park by participant
Option 3: Fly & Dive ($300) and/or Referral (price set by certifying dive shop)
Take a trip! Dive with the Nautilus staff you know and love on one of our fantastic dive trips (see our Trip Page website for details) OR Get a referral packet to take to any PADI or SDI Dive Center at the destination of your choosing. For referrals, you will pay the ‘Checkout Dive’ fee to the certifying shop.
Cancellations or Rescheduling: Cancellations or rescheduling require 48-hour notice. You may reschedule one time at no charge, after that any further adjustments will incur a $50 rescheduling fee per change. Course fees are non-refundable. Cancellations will be issued a store credit less a $100 cancellation fee.
Course Time: This course is conducted on site on any of our Open Water weekends. In water training is generally held from 8am-3pm both Saturday and Sunday but may vary based on the course, training location, and instructor scheduling. Studies must be completed by class time.
Note on Rental Gear: Students are responsible for picking up their rental bag and transporting it to the dive site. Please be sure to schedule a pick-up time and location when you register for your course.
