Classroom & Skills Development:
Then at your classroom session you will review your course schedule, work with your instructor to learn Scuba equipment assembly/break down, and go over your self study materials
Confined Water Training:
You’ll head to a local heated pool and practice the fundamental skills of diving over a period of one weekend. These are fun sessions that are required to move on to Open Water training and will make the transition easier
NOTE TO OPEN WATER SCUBA DIVER STUDENTS:
Open Water Scuba Diver Students need to bring their mask, snorkel, fins, wet suit boots, and all RENTAL GEAR assigned to them. Students will also need to bring a towel, water, snack, and swim suit.
When you arrive at the Rec Center go through the locker room and enter the competition pool. We will meet on the Pool Deck in the back by the deep end. Check in with the instructor and unpack your gear.
Almost all scuba diving gear requires some preparation before it can be used. When you bring home your new scuba mask you will need to carefully remove the residue left on lenses by the manufacturing process and prepare the surface for the first application of anti-fog. As an Open Water Scuba Diver Student your first assignment is to clean your scuba mask, apply a pea-sized drop of Scrub mask scrub to the inside of the lens. Using your fingertips rub scrub in a circular motion around the entire surface of the lens. Do not use your fingernails; this may scratch the lens of the mask. Rinse with clean water and repeat until the film is completely removed. You can also rub Scrub up and down the strap to remove any film. Always rinse your mask thoroughly after cleaning.
Congratulations on wanting to become an Open Water Scuba Diver Student! There is more about becoming certified on the class page
