Drew was certified in 2004 at Lake Millbrook, but it wasn’t until a family vacation to Aruba that he fell into the diving lifestyle. After completing his Advanced Open Water in 2010, he hasn’t looked back; becoming a dive master in 2011 and an instructor in 2012. He loves the challenge of deep, wreck, and cave diving, but is always up for a dip in the local quarries. While Drew holds numerous certifications in recreational and technical diving, Drew is always looking for more to learn or improve. You may see him practicing skills, in mid-water, at night, with no mask or fins, just to see if he can. And then he’ll continue until he’s mastered it.
Favorite Specialties: Sidemount, Wreck, Search & Recovery, Tec classes, Self-Reliant/Solo Diver, and any Equipment classes.
Favorite Dive Sites and/or Types of Diving: Drew loves to challenge himself. He prefers his tanks side mounted and loves exploring the wrecks off Key Largo, especially the Spiegel Grove, and the cave systems of northern Florida. If you twist his arm, though it won’t take much, he’ll cruise a warm, tropical reef too.
Fun Fact About Drew Outside of Diving: When not diving, which is a rare sight, Drew officiates youth basketball and cheers on the Virginia Tech Hokies. He can also be found working on gear in the service room.
Drew’s Thoughts on Diving: Diving is a great sport that can be enjoyed by all, whether it’s taking pictures on a tropical reef, exploring a historical wreck, or the thrill of the deep. So have fun! Also….don’t forget to regularly service your dive gear. It is life support equipment after all! Wink, wink, nudge, nudge.
